Entry #11: Blogs

Blogger is something that I personally really enjoyed doing. Whenever I would started a new blog I wasn't able to stop, its fun. It's something that bloggers have to take serious because others are reading what it is being put out there. The benefits of blogging are, they get to add pictures, videos, links and more. They have a chance to make it their own, interpret anything they decide. Some of the challenging parts of blogging is taking into consideration that others are reading the work bloggers put out there, they don't want to offend someone with the things they post. I've learned that as a student I had to stick to the topic that was given to write about and make sure to gather as much information from the web as I could. Provide links that were used for the topic. Blogging is another fun way to complete assignments, it opens up the possibilities on gathering more information. Helps the blogger support the topic even more. I think using blogger for this class was very useful, It helped with improving our writing. It also helped with following direction correctly. Blogging is something that I would do again or even keep blogging about many more fun interesting topics.

Entry #9: Media

Media-a plural of medium 

(usually used with a plural verb) the means of communication, as radio and television, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet, that reach or influence people widely

Media is everywhere around us we see it everyday on everything. On our phones, TV, billboards, and much more. I would be lying if I said that media doesn't influence me everyday. For example, whenever I logon to Facebook I learn more about what is happening around the world than I would watching the news. And I know not everything might not be true, but people do put a lot of information out there for people to read about.

Entry #8: Working Out

Working out doesn't mean people need to spend hours and hours at the gym. People can go for a nice hike, a bike ride, or a run/walk to the park. People can play a sport soccer, basketball, football etc.

Entry #7 Hashtags

I'm a person that spends quite an amount of time online. So when "hashtags" began I would see them everywhere Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. People would use them to make a point about a post or a picture they would put up. For example when someone would post about a trip they would hashtag the place like #Fiji or something that they are eating like #pancakes. I really don't use hashtags but when I do its just for fun or I just forget. The hashtag that I always remember and see a lot is #tb or #tbt which means throwback and throwback Thursday. There are so many, some people sometimes over use them and hashtag their entire post which I think is very weird. 

NOTE: It’s called a hashtag because the “#” symbol is referred to as a “hash” symbol in some places. (It’s more commonly referred to as a “pound” symbol in the U.S.)

Blog Entry #7: Capitalism: A Love Story

Capitalism: an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.

In the film Capitalism: A Love Story a film by Michael Moore, it really informed me about capitalism and how it works and how it affects the people of America. Michael Moore likes to get the truth to the people. He digs deep, he fights to get as much information as he can. In the film he includes many, many interviews as he possible can. He gets interviews from both sides of the story, the working class and the rich. It's interesting the way he shows his film, he is very serious and then he may add a scene that may make you laugh. The purpose of the film is to inform people about capitalism and how it affects everyone, it might be great for some but not so great for others. The audience of the film is the American people, especially the working class. The tone and the voice of the film is serious, but he does have some scenes where he may try to make you laugh. Over all the film did inform me about capitalism and it helped me understand it.

Blog Entry #6: Dogs

Are dogs really a man's best friend, I believe so. But in my case a girls best friend. I personally believe dogs were but on this planet to distract us from all the bad things that happen to us everyday. They comfort and protect us, they take a lot of energy from us in a good way.

Reasons why everyone should get a dog.
1. Dogs increase your mood dramatically!
2. Having a dog may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
3. Step aside, kitties! Dogs protect children from skin conditions and allergies.
4. Having a dog improves your physical wellbeing and encourages a healthy fitness routine.
5. Humans with dogs recover more quickly from illnesses.
6. Dogs make excellent service and alert animals. 
7. Children with dogs in their household miss less school.
8. Simply put, they are a human’s best friend.
9. There’s never a dull or boring moment.
10. They make excellent watchdogs.

Thats only a couple of reasons why.

Blog Entry #5: Ducey

In the article Ducey: Why Arizona needs more college grads It talks about why and how Ducey wants to make Arizona a better place to live in. By encouraging students to further their education so they can have a better life. In the article he gives many examples. Like
Doug Ducey: Less than half of Arizona's working adults have degrees or training beyond high school. We must fix that.

Education = opportunity

Achieve60AZ is about a setting a goal and working together – elected officials, educators, business leaders and parents – to get there. The goal: By 2030, at least 60 percent of working age adults with a college degree or career training.

Equipping at least 60 percent of Arizonans with a certificate or degree by 2030 will not be easy. Right now, only 42 percent of Arizona adults have a college degree or training beyond high school.


The purpose of this article is to get people to support his "Achieve60AZ" plan, and inform students to  focus on getting an education after high school. The audience of the article is for students and the students parents. The tone and voice of the article is professional it gets to the point and has many examples to support the topic.

Blog Entry #4: Pastas

There are many types of pastas that people can try to make. Pasta is a dish originally from Italy consisting of dough made from durum wheat and water, extruded or stamped into various shapes and typically cooked in boiling water.

Blog Entry #3: Slanted Reporting

Slanted Reporting- is done in a way that gives more attention or support to a particular person, group, or idea.

In the video NBC's Bias on Reporting The Real News, it is easily seen what the newscasters are trying inform the viewers of. The video has many examples, one being how a news station changed up information on how it was being delivered to the public. The Purpose of the video was to inform the viewers of the news station and how they changed the information of a speech that was being given, and really make people think about what they are watching in the news and if it's true. The audience of the video is everyone that watches the news, and that is pretty much everyone. Either way that information gets around, the public gets informed. The tone and voice of the video is professional and a little aggressive, because they want to get the message across to make sure that people are getting informed about this situation.

As I been exploring some blogs on the web, I can say that they all have something to inform us about. It may be to entertain, inform or persuade us about and interesting topic. I like how blogs give people the opportunity to leave a comment on any blog they read about. It gives the writer a chance to read what people think about their blogs. Introduction

Hello my name is Karen Ortiz I am 23 years old. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. My parents are from Guatemala, it is one of my favorite places to go to. I love learning new things everyday, I try to live each day to the fullest and just enjoy life.

There is one thing that I am very passionate about and that is playing soccer 'futbol'. I wouldn't call myself the best player out there but I'm ok. It feel alive and relaxed every time I play that amazing beautiful game, everything stops, nothing else matters. I also really like to cook whenever I get the chance, I like experimenting with new recipes.  

I have many goals in life. I hope to finish school and graduate, haven't decided what to graduate from but I know I will figure it out. I would like to get to travel the world, and just explore and see what this beautiful planet has to offer.
